Science Film Festival: Our New World – The Carbon Hunters

The Science Film Festival 2026 takes place from 2 to 15 November in 10 Istrian towns. Theme of this year’s edition: artificial intelligence and a sustainable future. Organiser: Udruga tehničke kulture “Galileo Galilei”. Programme: 🎬 Our New World – The Carbon Hunters (52 min) Director: Elena Sender, Alexis Barbier-Bouvet · Austria, France · 2025 Across the planet, ecosystems are being transformed under the pressure of climate change. Scientists investigate how forests, oceans, peatlands, grasslands and other natural environments interact with the climate and influence the global carbon cycle. Using advanced tools such as satellites, artificial intelligence, bioacoustic monitoring and measurement towers, researchers measure how effectively these ecosystems capture and store greenhouse gases. Their work aims to identify the most powerful natural carbon sinks and to understand how to protect or restore them. festival-znanstvenog-filma.eu
