Jam Session / Open Stage is realised in cooperation with Pula musicians and distinguished guests from the region. The performance moves through a multitude of styles including fusion, jazz, funk, blues, free style and free improvisation. Marco Quarantotto, as band leader, brings the musicians together and, according to their affinities and availability, puts the band line-up together. The Jam Session House Band will always consist of a different combination of musicians forming a standard performing trio or quartet, i.e. the standard band formation (drums, bass, guitar, keyboards). In the line-up specific to each edition they will play a set and then open the space for the Open Stage, reserved for a session with everyone who has signed up in advance or on the spot and agreed their participation with the band leader. Open Stage directly implies openness and participation: all musicians who wish to join the House Band can easily secure their participation by notifying the band leader in advance or at the event itself, and all it takes is to bring your instrument. Jam Sessions will be held on Thursdays out of collegial support for the Pula music scene, that is, in support of the organisers of already established and audience-recognised related music events such as the jazz concerts on Wednesdays at the “Mimoza” café bar and on Fridays at the Italian Community Circolo.
