Hike to Blaz Bay — World Tourism Day

Some places are worth discovering slowly – step by step, along a trail that takes you through nature, landscapes and the stories of this region. One such place is Blaz Bay. To mark World Tourism Day, the Barbačana Association, in cooperation with the Tourist Boards of the Municipality of Barban and the Municipality of Marčana, is organising a recreational hike to Blaz Bay for the second year in a row. On Sunday, 27 September 2026, participants can choose between two starting points: 🟢 PUNTERA — gathering from 8:00, start at 8:30. A more technically demanding trail with uphill sections, approximately 2 hours one way. 🟢 KRASE (RAKALJ) — gathering from 9:00, start at 9:30. An easy and pleasant route to Blaz, approximately 1 hour one way. Participants are responsible for arranging their own return from Blaz to their chosen starting point if they do not wish to walk back. During the hike, participants will discover the natural and cultural heritage of the area and learn more about its drinking-water springs and old mills. Upon arrival at Blaz Bay, the programme continues with stories and legends connected to this special place. At 11:00, an interpretive walk dedicated to Blaz and the legend of the lost crown of King Tomislav will take place. Local producers and exhibitors will present their offerings: Barban Bite Bar, Suveniri Škabić, OPG Terra Magica, Vinarija Šegota, Shantula and OPG Osipi, which will also offer short horseback rides at a promotional price. Participation is free of charge, but registration is mandatory by 12:00 noon on 26 September.
