The Rovinj-Rovigno Open University is organizing a solo exhibition of the renowned Pazin artist Elvis Berton in the Multimedia Center entitled "Natura". The opening of the exhibition, where Berton will exhibit about twenty paintings from the eponymous cycle created over the past three years, will be held on Thursday, October 22 at 7 p.m., and the author and his works will be presented by art historian Elizabeta Rogović. The exhibition will run until November 13. These are works in which nature is not a mere object of display, but a starting point for reflecting on the relationship between man, space and one's own inner experience. "The first encounter with his new paintings took me back to my childhood, to that pure and almost magical sentiment that the illustrations hidden between the covers of children's books aroused in me. However, we are talking exclusively about feeling, and not at all about illustrativeness. Namely, Berton builds the painting seriously, thoughtfully and systematically, out of the need to say something in visual language. The appeal of his paintings stems precisely from a kind of paradox: at first glance they seem almost fairy-tale and amazing, while their creation is the result of a very conscious and complex painting process," says Rogović in the preface, adding: "How many more dreamers are there on this globe who wake up in the morning and walk barefoot on the lawn, their feet absorbing the dew, heat, warmth and cold? Who seek peace and connection, trying to ground themselves anew? It is precisely this experience of direct contact with nature that seems to be an important starting point for this cycle. Nature here is not a romantic setting or an idyllic refuge. It is a space of physical experience, but also a space introspection. That seems to be exactly where Berton is starting from."
