Kino Valli continues the Met: Live in HD series and on Saturday, October 17, brings one of Verdi’s most powerful operas to the big screen – Macbeth. In Verdi’s thrilling interpretation of Shakespeare’s immortal tragedy, we follow the story of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, an ambitious couple willing to do anything to seize power. But the road to the throne is paved with crime, blood and fear, and even those who desired power above all else cannot escape the consequences. Quinn Kelsey takes on the title role of Macbeth, the King of Scotland who, following his bloody rise to the throne, is haunted by the ghosts of his victims. As his wife, Lady Macbeth, one of the world’s leading dramatic sopranos, Lise Davidsen, takes the stage, portraying a woman obsessed with power who becomes the driving force behind the tragedy. The star-studded cast also features Freddie De Tommaso as the noble Macduff and Ryan Speedo Green as Banquo, Macbeth’s friend who becomes a victim of his relentless pursuit of power. The musical force of this performance comes from Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Music Director of the Metropolitan Opera, while the production is directed by Louisa Proske, a director whose work is attracting increasing attention on the international opera scene. Experience one of Verdi’s most dramatic operas – live, at the cinema, together with audiences around the world.
