Living Nativity Scene in Sveti Lovreč

Experience Christmas as it was once celebrated – in the heart of medieval Sveti Lovreč! Sveti Lovreč will once again come alive in a special festive atmosphere. Trg Placa and the surrounding historic streets will become the setting for the Living Nativity Scene, a unique re-enactment of the birth of Jesus that brings together faith, tradition and the atmosphere of times gone by. Step into a living Christmas story and meet the Holy Family, the Three Kings and numerous costumed participants. The historic centre will also come alive with scenes from everyday life in the past – traditional craftsmen, traders, villagers and domestic animals. - Traditional craftsmen - Domestic animals - Arrival of the Three Kings - The Holy Family One of the highlights will be the arrival of the Three Kings, who will pay homage to the newborn Jesus, bringing the familiar Christmas story to life before the visitors. At Trg Placa, a Christmas market will offer local and authentic Istrian products, along with festive treats from local producers. To complete the Christmas atmosphere, enjoy mulled wine, hot tea, homemade bread baked in a traditional wood-fired oven, and traditional homemade dishes and delicacies. The Living Nativity Scene is more than a performance – it is an encounter with faith, tradition and the way of life of Istria in times gone by. In case of bad weather, the event will be postponed.
