H-8 (Nikola Tanhofer, 1958) A masterpiece of Croatian cinema inspired by a real event – a serious road accident on the Zagreb–Belgrade road. Through the fates of the bus passengers and a truck driver, Tanhofer builds a tense and striking story about human character, chance and destiny. The film has won multiple awards and is considered one of the most important Croatian films of all time. On the occasion of World Audiovisual Heritage Day (27 October), in cooperation with the Croatian State Archives – Croatian Cinematheque and Kino mreža, CMIK screens two classics of Croatian cinema. This year’s programme marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of director and cinematographer Nikola Tanhofer (the film H-8) and the 50th anniversary of the film Vlak u snijegu (The Train in the Snow). Free admission.
