Along the way she meets various obstacles and fantastical creatures who help her on a journey of building self-confidence and courage, making new friendships and discovering life values. What obstacles she must overcome, who will help her and whether she will finally find the magical horse, we will see in “The Story of the Winged Horse”. Pygmalion is an English-language theatre for children and young people that has operated since 2017 as part of the association Srce za Volosko. Its founders are the artist Lorena Žuvić and the educator Mateo Brajek. They gained their many years of knowledge and experience through collaborations with various theatres for children and young people in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and through numerous training programmes. Pygmalion is based on workshops held several hours a week throughout the school year and on final productions that use original texts (written by the founders themselves and based on the theoretical foundations of various drama-pedagogy authors such as Susan Perrow’s therapeutic stories, Joseph Campbell’s monomyth and Augusto Boal’s Forum Theatre), improvisation and ideas from the young workshop participants, and the making of their own costumes and sets. Ticket price: €5.50 / Family ticket price: €4 (the discount applies when buying 3 or more tickets, exclusively at the Festival Opatija box offices – Summer Stage and Centar Gervais).
