18th Učka Fair (Učkarski Samanj)

The largest traditional fair of Istria and Kvarner – the 18th Učka Fair – takes place on the first Sunday of September (Sept 6, 10 AM–8 PM) at the Poklon pass in Učka Nature Park. The event features a sales and exhibition section, gourmet offerings, children's shows and a cultural-entertainment programme. The fair promotes the cultural and natural heritage of Učka Nature Park and supports local producers of traditional products, showcasing native breeds such as the Pramenka sheep and Boškarin cattle. Around 50 exhibitors, associations and organisations from Istria and Primorje-Gorski Kotar counties take part. Hosted by Robert Ferlin, with performances by L'Amour Band, Nola and Koktelsi, the David Beletić accordion school, the Pazin folklore group and the Luka vocal group. At the Poklon Visitor Centre: an olive-wood jewellery exhibition by Franko Tončinić, "Old Croatian Deities", and a lecture "Fast and Light" by Slovenian alpinist Silvo Karo. Children's programme in a forest setting: the "Stonoga Goga" show (Teatar Poco Loco) and an archery presentation by the Zorya school. Two stages, rich food and drink offerings, and quality products from local farms, crafts and companies.
