Parenzana

The Tourist Board of the Municipality of Vižinada organizes the Parenzana recreational cycling marathon, which traditionally brings together more than a thousand cyclists and recreational cyclists from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Austria and beyond. This year it will be held on Sunday, September 27, and this is the 29th edition of this event. The gathering of participants begins in the morning hours in the school sports hall in Vižinada, where applications are accepted from 8:00 to 9:45, while the marathon is scheduled to start at 10:00. The participation fee is 15 euros per person and includes a T-shirt, medal, water, refreshments on the course and a meal, while children under 10 years of age are exempt from payment. Children under 14 years of age can participate only with the consent of a parent or guardian or accompanied by an adult, and the consent form is available on the organizer's website and can be filled out and sent by email to info@tz-vizinada.hr. Also, the use of a protective helmet is mandatory for all children under 16 years of age. Marathon route: Vžinada (start)-Tićan-Karojba-Motovun-Mirna most intersection-Istarske toplice-Livade-Ponte Porton-Vižinada (finish). Participants thus have the opportunity to enjoy a ride through picturesque Istrian landscapes, vineyards, olive groves and historical areas, with refreshment stations provided along the route. Cyclists are provided with escort in the form of a van for those who fall behind and medical transport in case of emergency interventions, while pedestrians will enjoy a specially prepared route about ten kilometers long. Pedestrians have the same rights as cyclists, including a starting package, meal and insurance. Additional entertainment after the recreational part of the program will be provided by an organized tombola with rich prizes, so participants, in addition to socializing and a good atmosphere, will have the opportunity to win valuable prizes. Parenzana is not competitive in nature, but is designed as a socializing and recreational experience for all generations. Its goal is to bring together families, friends and everyone who likes to spend an active day in nature, meet new people and enjoy the special atmosphere that this event provides.
