All or Nothing – Play for Teenagers (Centar Gervais)

The play “Sve ili ništa” (All or Nothing) is based on the text “Tik-tok bum” by Hana Veček, awarded in the Mali Marulić competition for the best dramatic text for puppet and children’s theatre, and on original texts by the participants who took part in creating the play. Through the story of fourteen-year-old Marta we raise the question of the pressures children and young people face, especially while growing up and making important life decisions such as enrolling in the secondary school they want. In a world where success is often measured by top grades, sporting achievements and meeting other people’s expectations, young people often face their parents’ ambitions, peer and social pressure, and their own fear of failure. Between the need to succeed and the wish to be accepted, the question remains how much room they have for their own wishes, insecurities and the right to make mistakes. The play is aimed at a teenage audience, but also at all adults involved in young people’s lives – parents, teachers and others who accompany them on their way to adulthood.
