White Truffle Season Opening

The ceremonial opening of the white Istrian truffle season in Motovun – the enchanting hilltop town above the Mirna valley, at the heart of one of Europe's most important truffle grounds. White truffles (Tuber magnatum) that grow in the forests along the Mirna river are harvested from September to December. The season opening is marked with truffle dish tastings, a truffle fair and demonstrations of truffle hunting with dogs.
