Kino Istra – Cinema Istria: The Tale of Silyan

A true story is interwoven with an old Macedonian folk tale about a boy named Silyan, who is cursed by his father and turned into a stork. The film combines documentary observation with fairy-tale elements and reflects on emigration, the decline of rural areas and humanity's relationship with nature. It follows Macedonian farmer Nikola, whose family leaves for Germany while he stays behind and finds an injured white stork he names Silyan.
