Fig and Fig Cake Festival

Fig and Fig Cake Festival – an annual celebration of the fig culture and the tradition of making smokvenjak (fig cake) in the Barban karst region. September 12, 2026, Barban Exhibitors from across Istria bring a rich selection of fig products – jams, liqueurs, dried figs, cakes, and of course smokvenjak, an Istrian delicacy of dried figs and walnuts that holds the title of protected cultural heritage. The event is an opportunity to meet local producers, taste authentic flavours and buy homemade souvenirs. Programme includes: • Market of exhibitors with local fig products • Workshops on making smokvenjak using old recipes • Tastings and gastronomic offer • Performances by musicians and traditional dance groups Free admission.
