The workshop is intended for anyone who wants to discover or develop their own storytelling voice. Through play, conversation and practical exercises, we will learn the basics of storytelling: working on verbal and non-verbal speech, building tension, contact with the audience and free and convincing performance. Special emphasis will be placed on folk tales – their simple structure, lively characters and the power with which they convey knowledge, values and native identity. Participants will work on selected folk tales, explore ways of telling them and at the end present a short story individually or in pairs. The workshop does not require previous experience in acting or storytelling – curiosity and a desire for joint creation are sufficient. It is led by Aleksandar Bančić, a drama pedagogue and storyteller with many years of experience in reviving Istrian oral heritage and folk tales. November 27, 2026 (Friday) 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM MMC Barban Participation is free, but due to limited space, registration is required at katedra.barban@gmail.com Applications are accepted until November 23, 2026 or until all available spaces are filled. No previous experience is required – just curiosity and a love of stories! Barban
