Lažeš, Melita (You’re Lying, Melita) – Children’s Play (Centar Gervais)

The play “Lažeš, Melita” is based on the work of the same name by Ivan Kušan, a classic of Croatian children’s literature. Through the story of Melita, a girl whose lies and incredible tales increasingly affect her relationships with family and friends, the play raises questions of truth and lies, trust and responsibility for one’s own actions. Following Melita’s attempts to get out of situations she created herself, we reflect on why we lie and on the consequences our decisions have for others. Can someone be cured of making things up, and what must happen for Melita to realise that lying doesn’t pay? Our play provides the answers. Artistic and pedagogical direction: Nikolina Hrga.
